The Paul M. Angell Family Foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of Rupal Soni as Program Officer/Administrator. In this new position, Rupal will review requests for funding and will lead several administrative duties. Rupal brings a diverse work history and a strong commitment to building and supporting creative, engaged and more equitable communities.

Rupal’s impressive community-based work spans from a fellowship with Indicorps, where she helped build a design school on the India-Pakistan border, to directing programs in low-income Chicago neighborhoods with the Neighborhood Writing Alliance. This direct work in communities grounds her approach to program development, grant review, and program evaluation. Rupal’s grant making experience includes small and organic organizations such as the Fire the Time Fund and the Asian Giving Circle, as well as the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelly Foundation, the Field Foundation, and the Illinois Arts Council.

Rupal also appreciates the transformative power of the arts, and has advised arts leaders in cultural policy recommendations, research, and strategic planning. Her own creative activity includes written word (poetry and stories), sketch comedy, and painting.

Rupal holds a Master’s Degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. She was also the recipient of the 2008 Joyce Foundation’s Emerging Leaders of Color and a 2006 Community Leadership Fellow with the Leadership Center for Asian Pacific Americans.

The Foundation is very pleased to welcome Rupal aboard. Her positive energy and passion for philanthropy shine through her work every day.
